The Bujinkan theme for 2012 is SWORD…

The Bujinkan Theme for 2012 training is “futsu” and there will be a lot of trainings with the sword. When I’m writing this the trainings haven’t started yet, and no one really knows what the trainings will be like. I’ve already seen some good articles explaining some concepts, but I’m not sure if they will help you or plant something different in your mind that will distract you from what Hatsumi Soke will teach us this year.

At Budoshop.se we got many Bujinkan sword DVD’s from the past years that might be good for studying the base sword work that is taught in the Bujinkan. We also have Swedish Tai Kai DVD’s with Hatsumi Soke, he always taught a lot of sword techniques in the past to. A seminar in Kaigozan Dojo with Mats Hjelm, and Arne Elmlund

The theme this year was Hontai Takagiyôshin-ryû and Daishô. Arne was in Japan in october, and Mats was in Japan november/december. They taught mostly Takagiyôshin-ryû techniques including… Ikichigae, Kasumi Dori, Onikudaki (plus 2 techniques we don’t know the name of), Sannindori, Omotegyaku ken sabaki and much more. The instructors speak Swedish on this video!

About the instructor

Mats Hjelm started training in Bujinkan for the first time around 1983, but it wasn’t until 1986 he had the opportunity to start training more seriously under a Shidôshi. He attends around 20 seminars, go to Japan 2-3 times every year. Since he started training he never had a training break. He takes his budo training very seriously! HANBOJUTSU and TAIJUTSU with MATS HJELM

This video contains Taijutsu techniques with variations including the Hanbo (short staff). Also Hanbojutsu basics with Taijutsu applications. You can see how similar the Taijutsu techniques can be done with a weapon, and how easy it is to do a weapon technique without a weapon. This seminar was filmed shortly after Mats Hjelm’s second Japan trip this year training with Soke and the Shihan.

[New DVD] Duncan Stewart Shihan – Three new videos

We have three new DVD’s with Duncan Stewart Shihan from a seminar in Stockholm in April 2010. Duncan Stewart has been training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu since 1988 and is ranked Judan Kugyo. He has lived in Japan since 2004 and trains consistently with Hatsumi Soke, Nagato Shihan, Noguchi Shihan, Someya Shihan and Someya Shihan. He is often uke and asked to demonstrate at classes. Duncan was Nagato Shihans sole uke at the Bujinkan Honbu for two years when studying direct from the Gyokko Ryu Densho and the Kukishinden Ryu. Shortly after returning from training in Japan with Soke and the Shihan, Holger held this seminar in Kaigozan Dojo, Stockholm, Sweden.

This DVD contains all 18 basic taijutsu techniques from Koto-ryu Koppojutsu Shoden no Kata. They are taught and explained thoroughly as the basic foundation, and with many applications and henka. The following techniques where taught…

Kurai-dori (kamae). Yokuto, Ogyaku, Koyoku, Shito, Hosoku, Hoteki, Shato, Keto, Sakugeki, Tangeki, Batsugi, Setto, Shihaku, Kyogi, Kakko, Uranami, Tenchi and Katamaki.

All these techniques are explained and taught in detail. The DVD has menus where you can chose technique to see, completely with chapters.
