This was filmed in Australia in the middle of Mats Hjelm’s #JapanTrip38.

The instructions on this film is in English. Each technique is demonstrated several times from all angles. The techniques are a mix of basics and new techniques from Japan trainings this year.

14-15 OCT – Port Macquarie Seminar

On Saturday the training started with all three forms in Sanshin no kata, then moved on to Muto-dori. Muto-dori and especially Shinken-shiraha-dome is this years theme in Japan, it is unarmed defence against knife and sword where you grab the blade.

On Sunday the training started with Ashirau with is techniques trapping his legs and take him down. Then Taijutsu and Muto-dori against sword and knife was taught. Finally the five Jutte techniques from Kukishin-ryu was taught.

17 OCT – Newcastle extra training

Some of the people was at the seminar and requested more Ashirau techniques and Jutte techniques. A little Kunai was taught and also Muto-dori and Taijutsu.

18 OCT – Sydney extra training

Taijutsu and Muto-dori was taught at this extra training.

The video is edited down to 27 minutes.

This is the second in a series of SHUT UP AND TRAIN videos guaranteed to make you sweat. If you don’t like getting sweaty during training, then this video is not for you. This DVD is for practitioners who want to learn new training drills which might speed up their skill level if really practiced.

It can also be a very good work out that will get you sweaty. Some exercises is easy and some is more difficult, some you can work out on your own and some you need a training partner.

The theme is Sanshin no Kata, and Hiken/Hoken Juroppo. Watch the video to give you some ideas and then SHUT UP AND TRAIN!

A seminar in Kaigozan Dojo with Shawn Gray from Japan.

This was the 6’th seminar (excl a few Tai Kai and extra trainings) with Mr.Shawn Gray at Kaigozan Dojo in Stockholm Sweden. The theme this time was Gyokko-ryu Kosshijutsu Happobiken, Bojutsu, Ukemi, Sanshin no kata.

Shawn was teaching Taihenjutsu ukemi, breakfalling. Sanshin no kata, five basic movements which can be said to be the roots of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, it is also very important basics from Gyokko-ryû. The Gyokko-ryû techniques Kô, Shunu, Shunsoku, Iaifuji was also taught with a lot of variations, both without weapons and also with weapons, mainly the long staff (Gyokko-ryû Bôjutsu). There is also a 30 minute interview with Shawn where he talks about his experience from training in Japan and much more

Shawn left behing 10 years of Karate and Kendo to begin Bujinkan training in Canada after returning from a 1-year stay in Japan in 1990. After a training visit in 1995, he relocated to Japan permanently in January of 1997. Shawn passed the godan test in January of 1999, and in 2000 at the urging of Hatsumi sensei established a dojo, the first Bujinkan dojo in Japan led by a civilian foreigner. Shawn has regularly served as interpreter for Dr. Hatsumi and has translated much of Senseis writing into english. He has been regularly invited to give seminars in Europe , North America , and Asia.

A seminar in Kaigozan Dojo with Shawn Gray from Japan.

The theme for this video is Koteki Ryouda Juppou Sesshou no Jutsu – (Kunai, & Basic Taijutsu). Shawn taught the first four Kunai Kata (Kiri no Ichiyou, Mizu-tori, Rakka, Mawashi- dori) from Koteki Ryouda Juppou Sessho no Jutsu (the 2003 Bujinkan theme). He also taught Taihenjutsu Ukemi, Sanshin no Kata and Kihon Happou applications and more. There is a bonus segment with the last and fifth kata, Gorin Kudaki by Mats Hjelm.

SANSHIN NO KATA with MATS HJELM (Riga 2011)

Sanshin no kata and Kihon-happo is the most fundamental and important techniques in the Bujinkan Dojo. Five blocking techniques and five counter strikes was taught; the basic form and also jissen feeling.
 
This video is from a seminar in Riga, Latvia in February 26th 2011. This is day one of two. The first day the theme was Sanshin no kata and the second day Juttejutsu.

Ten Chi Jin Ryaku no Maki is the absolute foundation of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, unarmed fighting and self defence techniques.

Recorded in Stockholm, Sweden September 2002 – February 2003

Kaigozan dojo and many other use these techniques as a base for ranking beginners up to 1’st degree black belt.

Ten ryaku no maki: 9 kyu – 7 kyu (yellow belt)
Chi ryaku no maki: 6 kyu – 4 kyu (green belt)
Jin ryaku no maki: 3 kyu – 1 kyu (brown belt)

All these techniques is demonstrated on this video 1-3 times. It is not a self study course, it should rather be seen as a reference material and a compliment to your studies with a good teacher.

There is no verbal instructions or speaking on this video. So it doesn’t require that you know English or any other language.

This is one of the first videos we made. It was filmed between 2002 and 2003. The movie quality is not very good. But it has been our best seller since we opened our web shop. Many people like to know the basics :-).

Note: Not all teachers use this curricullum exactly for their ranking. But the techniques are the most fundamental and basic techniques in the Bujinkan Dojo system. So it is worth studying anyway!
